The Caliber 8R Series

A new Seiko Prospex Speedtimer takes inspiration from Seiko’s first stopwatch designed for timing winter sports.

The original stopwatch featured a black dial with indexes and a chronograph sub-dial at 9 o’clock in red to ensure high legibility during competitions conducted on snow.

Designed for maximum precision in every aspect.

All watches are powered by Caliber 8R46, the brand’s most advanced automatic chronograph movement for mechanical watches. This caliber incorporates both vertical clutch and column wheel mechanisms which ensure the precision and durability. The escapement is lightweight and strong, thanks to the use of MEMS technology which enhances the stability of the watch's precision. With the push of the reset button, the hands return back to zero instantly and in perfect synchronization.

Original model

The latest Speedtimer chronograph takes inspiration from Seiko's first stopwatch designed for timing winter sports. As the official timing device at a major sporting event held in Sapporo in 1972, the original stopwatch’s features were tailored for winter conditions. These included a black dial for high legibility during competitions conducted on snow.

Dial & Case

The colour scheme of the new Speedtimer is inspired by the original stopwatch of 1972.

The red indexes and chronograph sub-dial at 9 o'clock enhance legibility against the matter, sandblasted black dial, which reduces the reflection of light from the sun and snow. The theme continues with the stainless steel case thanks to the use of black hard coating.

Strap

The watch is presented on a matte black calf leather strap with stitching designed to increase durability.
