PA PA by Xavier Wine: Winter Ready Wines with a Joyful Soul

As the temperature drops, there’s no better time to lean into wines that bring comfort, warmth, and a little playfulness to the table. Enter PA PA by Xavier Wines - the vibrant and joyful sibling label from Gippsland winemaker Xavier Goodridge - now proudly celebrating its 10th vintage.

Named in tribute to Xavier’s grandfather, who first introduced him to the rhythms of nature and the value of patience, PA PA reflects Xavier’s belief that good wine should be honest, expressive and deeply enjoyable. While his signature Xavier Wine Estate range explores the quiet complexity of Gippsland’s cool-climate terroir, PA PA is a more spirited take on serious winemaking designed for spontaneous, everyday moments - whether casual catch ups with friends or celebrating a special occasion.

Crafted with the same organic principles and minimal intervention that define Xavier’s approach, the PA PA Pinot Noir (13.5%) and Pinot Gris (12.8%) offer drink-now charm with genuine character. The Pinot Gris offers weight and texture, with savoury depth that pairs beautifully with creamy pastas, roast chicken or wintery grain salad whilst the Pinot Noir brings brightness and spice to hearty winter fare, perfect to enjoy alongside roast duck, mushroom risotto or charred root vegetables. Both also pair beautifully with a classic cheese plate, ideal for those group gatherings.

Talking about the inspiration behind the wines, Xavier explains, “The PA PA range is about bringing joy to the table. I wanted to make wines that feel generous that you can share without overthinking and are as much about the people you drink them with as the place they come from. They are about honesty and energy but also reflect the season, the soil, and the sense of spontaneity when everything clicks, whether in the vineyard or around the table. We’ve worked with the same growers for over a decade now, which means there’s a shared understanding and trust. Together, we’re able to get the very best grapes to bring these wines to life.”

Having honed his craft in Burgundy, France and Australia, Xavier returned home to lease and restore a neglected vineyard in Maffra, Gippsland. That site, now thriving as the 4ha Avon Vineyard, yields the fruit for Xavier’s premium wines and continues to inform his unfiltered, soil-first approach to winemaking.

A modern expression of minimal-intervention winemaking, PA PA strikes the perfect balance between quality and ease - honest, unfussy, and made to be enjoyed in good company. Now ten vintages in, this is wine with soul: generous, honest, and full of life. As the season calls for comfort and connection, PA PA delivers the kind of bottle that brings people together, no script required. This winter, pour something with warmth, character and joy. Pour PA PA.

Xavier Wine is a boutique Gippsland winery crafting elegant, site-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that highlight the quiet power of place, time and instinct. Grown in Maffra’s coffee rock soils and farmed organically, Xavier’s estate wines capture the distinctive character of this lesser-known cool-climate region. Alongside sits PA PA by Xavier Wine—a playful, drink-now sibling label poured in some of the leading restaurants and wine bars across Australia. Together, they tell an evolving story of thoughtful, minimal-intervention winemaking and gradual refinement.
