We tried Pabst Blue Ribbon - American lager that’s perfect for every Aussie moment

We recently got to try Pabst Blue Ribbon, a heritage American beer, founded in Milwaukee in 1844. Having consumed lots of American media and content over the years, we were very familiar with the look and feel of the brand, but less so the taste. So, to skip right to the good part, it’s everything that we could ever need from an ice cold beer. It hits the spot after a tough afternoon mowing the lawns and can be easily enjoyed with friends gathered around any sporting occasion, from grand finals to the local oval. It tastes like a classic American light lager. A personal preference is to avoid experimental IPAs or extremely “hoppy” beers. Pabst Blue Ribbon is a simple lager with a 4.7% ABV and clean drinking profile, it gives a consistent, crisp taste – perfect to crush your thirst!
It has become a type of anti-status symbol in the USA, over time being the beer of preference for the blue collar worker, and those who don’t care what others thought of them. The brand embraced this idea throughout its life, advertising minimally, never trying too hard and becoming accidentally cool! In Australia, it would be easy to imagine an esky full to the brim with ice and PBRs at a barbeque, or cans being held high in the air, rocking out to your new favourite indie band at a local music venue.
Best enjoyed cold and shared with mates, Pabst is available in Australia at Dan Murphy’s and BWS. Drink responsibly.
