Lambros Army on the importance of protein
Australia is a nation of active, busy individuals, with most Aussies (76%) saying they partake in sport and exercise at least once a week, as found by Kellanova’s recent survey. But of those surveyed, 1-in-3 felt their current diet didn’t include enough protein, an essential nutrient needed to fuel active Aussies. Participants selected a number of barriers to integrating protein within their diet, with 1-in-4 finding it difficult to identify protein-rich products and nearly 1-in-3 finding it time-consuming to prepare a protein-rich diet.
Lachlan and Stefan Lamble know the struggle better than most. The pair, known as Lambros Army, recently became the first brothers to run across Australia, undertaking the 100-day run from Perth to Melbourne to raise money for Cancer Research. They explain “We know firsthand how challenging it can be to get enough protein, especially at breakfast. But we are testing our limits every day, so protein is essential”.
Stefan and Lachlan add that “Protein helps us in so many ways. It not only fuels our bodies and performance when taking on extreme challenges but also supports lean muscle growth, strong bones, metabolism and healthy skin and nails, as well as reducing hunger and cravings throughout the day”.
The brothers have been recently loving the convenience of having easy high protein breakfast options. They explain: “Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain High Protein Crunch is great to have at our fingertips, offering 12.7g of protein in a single bowl and ensuring we’ve got 25% of our daily protein needs before we’ve even left the house in the morning”.
As the pair gear up for upcoming challenges throughout this year to meet their goal of raising $1 million for Cancer Research, their focus on nutrition is stronger than ever. And protein will be a crucial part of this and fuelling the brothers through their next endeavors.
Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain High Protein Crunch is available nationwide in Woolworths and Coles and will be in select independents from early October, with a RRP of $10 for a 500g pack.
