The iconic Moccona jar has become synonymous with beautiful upcycle projects. Moccona has released several limited design collections over the past decade, including a collaboration with renowned designer Peter Alexander, which have continued to inspire this movement. Now Australia’s leading premium instant coffee brand is taking its latest limited-edition collection of Decorative Jars to the next level.

For the first time, Moccona invited the next generation of Aussie and Kiwi designers, from design schools across ANZ who have a passion for sustainability, to create designs to feature on the new jar collection. The six winning artworks feature on more than 2 million jars worldwide, highlighting important sustainability topics in a beautiful way to inspire people to take small steps towards creating a more sustainable world.

Speaking about the brand’s desire to encourage Australians and New Zealanders to continue upcycling and do their bit to make a little difference, Dominique Stichling, Marketing Manager, Moccona explains, “We all feel like we should be doing more when it comes to sustainability, yet the issue often seems overwhelming, making it hard to know where to start or what we can do as individuals. When it comes to making a more sustainable world, little actions can make a difference.

For the first time in history we have handed over our iconic jar to a group of talented young designers, giving them a platform to highlight the sustainability issue closest to their hearts. We hope the striking artworks, featured on our latest collection, not only showcase the beauty of the local natural environment in need of protection, but also inspires Aussies and Kiwis to upcycle their Moccona jar and think about other small changes we can all do to make a little difference.”

The six winning designers were picked from more than 60 entries, their designs are now featured on the limited-edition Moccona Decorative Jar collection, which includes:

· Pedaling Forwards (designed by Jemma Ortiger) – encouraging sustainable transport

· Our Whales Below (designed Kaityln Geltner) – advocating for reducing pollution in waterways and on beaches to protect our ocean species

· Protecting Friends (designed by Celine Groene) – celebrating and protecting biodiversity

· Renew (designed by Nicole Canuto) – championing reusability and incorporating sustainable practices in daily lives

· Small Actions (designed by Georgia Billman) – highlighting how small actions can play a huge part in bringing about future change

· Bee the Change (designed by Sophie Williamson) – spotlighting how bees, butterflies and pollinators play a major role in our world’s ecosystems

Make a little difference with Moccona limited-edition jars

As part of Moccona’s ongoing commitment to a sustainable coffee journey, the new design collection launches in support of future-changing environmental causes including Dismantle, Wildlife Victoria, ORRCA, Planet Ark, KiwiHarvest and Bees Up Top. Moccona will donate AUD 100,000 to be shared between the six causes – each jar will display a QR code, directing consumers to Moccona.com.au/makealittledifference where they can vote for the one they care about most. Each cause will receive a share of the AUD 100,000 donation, allocated based on your votes.

The theme for this new collection aligns to Moccona’s mission for all packaging to be 100 per cent recyclable, compostable, or reusable. Moccona jars are recyclable through your kerbside collection and contain more than 50% recycled glass, so if you decide not to upcycle your jar into a beautiful piece for the home, you can dispose of it in a thoughtful way in your recycling bin.
