The story began in 2020 when Theresa Dobson and her partner Wayne Allen purchased a struggling, run-down 700-acre dairy farm in Waipū, on New Zealand’s North Island. Their goal was to restore the land and create a positive, family-inclusive business. They planted rows of native East Cape mānuka, a strain found only in New Zealand and prized for its richness in healing compounds. 

Through extensive research, they determined that CO₂ extraction would maximise the plant’s active molecules. By 2022, 120 acres of thriving mānuka were ready for harvest, and the farm was flourishing. 

When Jaxon Dobson’s mother passed away in 2022, he returned home from Los Angeles and took the family business seriously. “Upon seeing, smelling and trialling our first full-spectrum mānuka extract, I realised we had created something really special,” says Jaxon Dobson, Founder and Director of MN8. “I wanted to build a brand that represented those initial values and spoke to a global audience.”
