Why a Car Wash for Sale is a Good Investment

Rain, hail or shine, people still want their cars to be washed. In Australia, we are lucky to experience sunshine for most of the year, this means cars get covered in dirt and dust and drivers want to get them cleaned. Not to mention the interior with food from kids, pet hair and dirt from shoes!

When you are buying a car wash for sale there are a few things you need to review, such as location, profitability and equipment. We wanted to share why a car was for sale is a good investment and how it can be a profitable business for you.

  1. Different Types

There are a few different types of car washes for sale. Firstly, are the self-serve options where drivers can turn up to a wash bay and wash their own vehicle. This is popular in locations like next to petrol stations. These types of businesses have very little input from the owner. They are primarily self-serve and an attendant may visit during the day to ensure all the equipment is working.

The second type, are hand car washes where you will turn up and the car is washed by hand, or maybe a mixture of automatic washing and hand washing. These types of car washes for sale are very popular in capital cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Thirdly, is the full service car wash where drivers will leave their vehicles for an hour or two whilst someone performs a full car wash. They will usually offer a detailing and full service business.

  1. Under Management

You will find that a lot of the car washes for sale are being run under management. Especially the self serve and hand car washes. This is because the work tends to be labour intensive and the owners prefer to have other people doing the physical work whilst they manage the books. A Lot of the times, the business owner is rarely seen at these hand car washes, they tend to be offsite or managing other businesses.

  1. Expansion Opportunities

As mentioned above car washes for sale tend to be under management, this giving the owner time to look for other businesses for sale. They may buy more car washes or allied businesses such as petrol stations for sale. When you run a business that doesn't require a high level of input from the owners, it allows the owners to be more entrepreneurial and build their wealth.

  1. Money Makers

A car wash for sale could be a good money maker with very minimal input from the owner. When you are comparing car washes for sale see how much revenue they are making. Be sure to understand the net profit and your return on investment.

Summary

Buying a car wash for sale is a great venture for a business owner. Whether you're looking to buy a business with minimal input or you are considering multiple businesses for sale, it's great to start your research. Don't go into the deal without a professional and always obtain advice such as a business broker.
